The city of gentle people. The City of Dumaguete is a city in the Philippine province of Negros Oriental. It is the capital, principal seaport, and largest city of the province. Dumaguete is referred to as a university town or "the center of learning in the south," because of its universities and colleges that became a melting pot of students, professionals, artists and scholars coming from different parts of the country and the world.
